    Who inspects

    Statewide but split across three agencies: Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Division of Hotels and Restaurants (restaurants); Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Food Safety (grocery/retail stores); and the Department of Health (food hygiene) Agency page

    What the public sees

    A narrative violation list with an inspection disposition rather than a letter grade; establishments receive one to four unannounced inspections a year. Source

    Posting the result

    Not required to be posted. The license must be conspicuously displayed and the operator must maintain the latest inspection report on premises and make it available to any consumer who asks; some counties, like Palm Beach, add a local rule requiring a notice that the latest report is available on request.     2017 FDA Food Code (FDACS and DBPR); 2013 FDA Food Code (Department of Health). The FDA Food Code is a model, not a federal mandate — each state decides which edition to adopt and how far to amend it.
